How Does The Obalon™ Balloon Process Work?

At your consultation with Dr. Crespo, you will be given a placebo coated pill to swallow which is the same size as the OBALON®  balloon. This will ensure you are a good candidate for the OBALON® program.

On the day of the procedure, you will swallow a capsule containing the balloon which is also attached to a micro-catheter. This micro-catheter has the top of the line OBALON® Navigation System that will provide visualization of the OBALON® balloon making its way down into your stomach. This is made possible by an electromagnetic sensor on the distal tip allowing Dr. Crespo to monitor the capsule’s position on 3D. As the capsule dissolves, the balloon is inflated with gas. The micro-catheter is then removed quickly and smoothly. With Dr. Crespo’s permission, you should be able to go back to your daily activities right away.
